Fluence.

Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 August 2026

Fluence. does not collect your data. There is no account, no server of ours, and nothing you read, ask, record, or annotate is sent anywhere.

That is not a promise about intentions. It is a description of how the app is built: the reading, the narration and the answers all run on your phone, and the app has no facility for uploading any of it.

What stays on your device

All of the following is written to storage that belongs to the app alone, on your phone, and is never transmitted:

Fluence. also excludes itself from Android's cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so this material is not copied off the phone by the operating system either. The consequence is worth stating plainly: if you uninstall the app or reset the phone, this is gone, and we cannot recover it, because we never had it.

When the app uses the network

Three times, all of them things you asked for:

Diagnostics collected by Google Play

Google's Play Billing library, which the app uses so it can offer that purchase, reports its own diagnostics to Google. This happens in every app that sells anything through Google Play, and it is Google that collects and receives it, not us. It covers the library's own operation and basic device and app information — never the contents of your library, your questions, or your recordings.

Google's handling of that data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Permissions

The app asks for the microphone only if you choose to record a personal narrating voice. The recording is used on your device to generate speech in that voice, is stored in the app's private storage, and is deleted when you delete the voice. It is never uploaded, and it is not used for identification or any other purpose.

The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, calendar, call logs, or phone identity.

The device's own voice

Fluence. ships its own narrating voices, which run on your phone. It can also fall back to the text-to-speech voice built into Android, in which case the text of the passage is handed to that system component. Fluence. asks for an on-device voice so this stays on your phone. If you would rather it never happened at all, install one of the app's own voice packs and choose it — the app's voices are on-device by construction.

Children

Fluence. is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and it knowingly collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Advertising and tracking

There are no adverts, no advertising identifier, no analytics, no crash reporting, no attribution or measurement library, and no profiling. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any.

Your rights

Because none of your data reaches us, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or erase on your behalf. Everything the app holds is under your control on your own device: individual documents, notes and voices can be deleted in the app, and clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it removes the lot.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes.
